Feb 2013

Random Thoughts:
Recently had the opportunity to speak with a couple ladies:

One is new math teacher at our school.  She is very soft spoken and shared with me what she does when not at HHS.  She was married for 18 years and has 1 daughter.  She was busy raising her daughter and living life.  It turned out that her husband had been having an affair with a bridesmaid at their wedding.  She said she held her hand and had her over countless times, asked her husband to help her with every day issues she would have at her house since she had gotten a divorce 7 years prior.  She said she should of known and should not have been surprised but she was.  So now she is picking up the pieces and  moving on.  I like her!

The other lady is kind of a hot mess.  I have encouraged her many times, encouraged her to be a wife as well as a mom.  I have supported her.  She had never shared the details of their dysfunctional family.  This time i had to ask "What part of being a mom is allowing you to let this reality be ok for your daughters?"
I pray for them both.

That brings me to this moment to share how thankful i am for my life.  How wonderful that on Thursday i will celebrate 32 years with this man.  Who told me the first time we met "I have been looking for you"  Cheesy yes but i think now we had been looking for each other.
He is snoring beside me, it is 4am and it is raining outside.  Yes i should be sleeping but sometimes it feels ok to be here now.  Being quiet and being thankful!!

WE are going to have a baby girl soon and i know my Ra is so tired of being pregnant.  She has been a real trooper but i do remember you are weary. i am praying for this perfect girl to make her appearance with no C section.

I have 3 of the most beautiful and loving grandchildren in the whole entire universe.  They make me so happy and I love them so very much.  I cherish my moments with them!

Happy Anniversary Bobby you are the Best and I love you so vey much!

2012-2013 New Year

Tomorrow we will welcome 1300 + students to HHS.
Lots of freshman who will be smaller than the rest of the kids
Commons area will be LOUD and they all get re acquainted and decide which group they will be apart of.  I am staring the year refreshed and ready to take care of attendance.
Lots of changes this year and for me personally I love change and challenge.
I am feeling very good about my home space as I did lots of cleaning up and reorganizing.  Thus my mental attitude is a 10!

We had a great week at the beach and hopefully we will make this a yearly adventure.  At some beach somewhere.  I love the ocean and realized how much i need to feel the waves and listen to the sound of the waves.  Watch the sunsets and sunrise and just be quiet and get filled up.

Jackson turned 4 this summer.  He had a baseball birthday party complete with piƱata.
Marah is 8 and will be going to 3rd grade!  She is so precious and sweet.  Marah still loves to cheer and is on the force competition dance team.
Wyatt is now 8 months old and is on his way to crawling.

St. Pete's Beach (near Tampa)

The beach is the best place to regroup your soul.  The sound and majesty of it all is priceless.  What a great adventure.  No schedule, no stress just endless days of R & R!!  So glad we had this opportunity to go with Ra and B.  Jackson is so much fun and is still an easy guy to handle.  Drew has a great place to hang his hat.  Smart guy for sure.
Bobby loved being in the ocean

Jackson loved it all

His first kite flying adventure

He is sooo sweet!

End of April 2012

What a lovely time of year.  The flowers are all blooming and my plants are now officially outside.  They love being out there and I enjoy taking care of them.  I have an awesome back porch area that Bobby helped me reclaim by doing some painting and repairing of the screen.
The festivals have arrived and every weekend there are many options  This weekend Ra and I went to the Inman Park Festival.
There are also lots of road races and I love to go to them also.  This year has been especially fun because Brian and Ra are enjoying the road races with me.  It is so fun to see them also enjoy this favorite past time.

Wyatt is now 4 months old.  He will be staying with us this week along with Tori.  Justin will return to Vidalia to work but he will return next weekend.
Jackson is close to being a 4 year old.  He is so  much fun and I love being with him every chance I get.
His favorite color is Yellow and i love finding things to make him happy.
Marah our little ball player and cheerleader gets to hang out with us a couple times a month.  She is a precious little lady who loves the color blue.
Looking forward to hanging out at the lake with Bobby and a book.  Such a great place to regroup and relax.

First ASR Run

Ya know. running has been a part of my life since i was in High School.  I loved long distance running, with so many things in my life i couldn't control this was the one thing that allowed my mind to be quiet so i could relax.  To this day i love the feeling i get the endorphins that quiet my brain.  I love encouraging others to run and for the longest time ran alone.  Now Brian has joined the fun, i know he loves it as much as i do.  For Mothers Day he got me a Road ID, very thoughtful gift.  I wear it proudly.  I also run with Kimberley Miller, we both love to run together.
Today was the first time i ran with Atlanta Southside Runners.  We met to run at 6:00 am and i had some anxiety about this new adventure.  I had nightmares i would get lost, be the last one and never find the finish line.  It was a group of mostly men and some gals.  The guys took off and i could tell they were faster than i will ever get.  It is still fun to be with a group of people who share this passion.  Keep Moving!

December 26

Holiday time can be so stressful and hectic.  We managed to have a little stress but for the most part enjoy the time together.  Bobby as usual made the best dinner for us all.  Stephanie and Helen came over to share the holiday love at the Lenz home.   Our baby Wyatt was here as well also.

November 2011

So much has happened.
I am going to have a new baby Lenz in the family Baby Wyatt
We are all very excited about his arrival on December 14th
Justin and Tori Hamm went to prom together 11 years ago they are making lots of adjustments getting ready for their baby
Sasha will be the godmother and Tori's brother Andrew the godfather
I have met Rita Wigington and really like her.  I wish she lived closer we would be fast friends
Another baby will be here soon Pam and Chris will be new parents with the arrival of their baby boy Durham.  Sweet baby kisses everywhere.

I went to see Marlene for fall break.  It was a much needed regroup time for me.  I went alone and we truly had a wonderful time.  We rode bikes and relaxed.  She made me healthy oatmeal every am.  I love my dear friend.  We dream of one day living together again.  We would have so much fun doing crafts and hanging out.  We baked a pie together and she gave me a pampered chef apple slicer.  I am kind of loving baking apple pies.

Bobby is having surgery on Monday.  He is pretty quiet about the procedure so Ra will take him there in the am and get the scoop from the doctor.  She is my girl who gets it done for me.  Such a help to us both.

I am the proud owner of a MAC.  I am currently driving to Perimeter to learn how to use it.  I feel kind of dumb cause i wanted to add some photos earlier to the blog but still don't know how.  Patience grasshopper

Sasha recently got a job closer to her home.  i am so glad to not have her on the highway driving an hour each way.  She is such a great girl.  i miss spending time with her but she is so busy with work and school when i do see her it is always a joy.

i am currently on day 3 of not eating candy.  i love sweets and went overboard at Halloween.  Such a happy holiday for me first of all there is a lot of orange decorating and well i love the color.  It is a fun holiday also.  We went Trick or Treating with Jackson.  He is just so much fun and makes every moment a celebration.

So i have been getting back to my routine of working out.  I rode my bike tonight and went 13 miles.  It was cool outside and kind of  windy at times.  But i did it and the leaves were spectacular.  i am going to commit to going to the gym more and eating less.  I currently want to loose 10 pounds.  Not a lot and am sure that i can do it.

Well Random thoughts for now......

Bobby's Surgery

He has had several kidney stones in the past.  They are very painful and i know that he was not looking forward to this procedure.  During his last physical they found some blood in his urine.  So upon further tests they found what they thought was a very large kidney stone.  Dr. Futral said that it could be compared to a very large olive.  He anticipated up to a 6 hour surgery to go in dissect it and painfully remove and get all of the little particles.  He was very surprised to find over 100 little stones and was able to remove all of them that had packed themselves in to a finger of his kidney.  He said Bobby would be very sore and would need to stay down for a week with the tube that is still in his kidney.  I was so thankful and relieved that this was the case.  I sure do love that man and am sad he will have to recover from this painful procedure.  But hopefully he will on the the road to full health in a week.  So thankful for the power of prayer.  And for this doctor !!! It took him a full week to recover.  i am very hopeful that water will become his best friend and the memory of this will never leave him.  Let's get committed to health.  Xo

Greeley Fall Break 2011

It is so wonderful to be here and spend this time with Marlene. Going to someone's house let's you see what they are up to. There is a trail near her house we started our day being outside the weather is perfect. Shorts are in order for sure. A river runs along the trail we borrowed a bike from her neighbor Shanda and will ride the 10 miles to the next little town.

Tomorrow. Since I am up early I have time to blog. We enjoyed a relaxing day yesterday I ran 3 and we walked 5 miles along the trail. Had my first taste of Mexican for dinner.  We even enjoyed a day trip to The Continental Divide.  The weather was fabulous and we seen this Elk up close and personal.  Spent a day with Kathy Ferris who took us back to the mountain we went to Black Hawk and watched her gamble.  Had a delightful dinner Patty Loza joined us for dinner.  All to soon it was time to say good by until the next time which i am hopeful will be 2012!

sweet 30 for my girl

Let me start by saying I had NO idea how to be a mom. simply I never had one and the ones that were in my life were never there for the long haul. When things got tough I was moved out. Anyway.... MY BABY turns 30 tomorrow. AND we are still a family. It is overwhelming where I sit and this week I have felt overly sensitive and melancholy to think I had a hand in this amazing woman's life. If I had met her on the street I would want to be her friend, she is so genuine and caring. A little bit of spice and a whole lot of life in her. She was always an old soul. She understood things that were never explained. She has added so much joy to our lives. She has brought us gifts in her husband we love and adore. I won't even get started on Jackson that is another story. That boy is my precious little man. he is an athlete through and through. But wanted to take a moment and Thank God for answered prayers for helping me and guiding me as a mother. I am blessed and these tears are happy ones

It is a Tuesday and I am home

Decided I needed a day to get a major amount of office work done.  This is my "naughty" confession.  I was so depressed because my husbands business was down to zero for a number of years and got into the habit of procrastination.  He is currently in Orlando doing a job right now.  Thank you Jesus!!  Have really thought about this recently and decided that I needed to take care of HOME!  Plus I am leaving for Mardi Gras on Thursday and like to get things organized before I go.  It helps me relax and have a great time without that piece of "guilt" knowing I should of gotten it done.  YEA ME!!!!!Love the day alone and have many things planned.

1.  Office but before I really work I have to clean all the corners.  Neurotic "YES"

2. Balance All checkbooks personal and business

3.  Take Sable to get her shots that were due last Nov.  Might be a little mad at Bobby for not doing this since I asked him so long ago if it was done.

4.  Sort through a mountain of paperwork.

The great news is that my house is very clean and organized and I can get through this with little interruptions.  It is 9am and I all ready feel so accomplished.

Taking a minute to Thank God for the many blessings that we have.  My home, my family, my children and grandchildren.  My wonderful husband who is truly the best guy I know.  This beautiful day where I can open the window behind me and soak up the fresh air after last nights rain.

Where I am

Maybe a little bit crazy.  There must be a bug going around and I caught it.  Put some flower print curtains up in my living room and just couldn't figure out what it was about them that made me crazy.  It took me a couple of weeks to actually put them all up.  I had 2 up and kind of hid them behind my other curtain layer.  Once i had them all up they made me crazy.  So i reorganized the living room and decided i do not want any flower prints in my house EVER.  At least not the curtain kind.  I love flowers that are real.
Ran the Reagan this weekend.  10 K  1 hour 4 minutes and 53 seconds.

Had a 3 day weekend and was fortunate enough to have my girls help me do some things around the house.  Now the weekend is about over and I still have a to do list.  Back to work tomorrow.

It is a Snow Day!!

It was a very fun day with Ra and B and Jackson.  I did make the drive back home before the ice settled.  Tomorrow is snow day # 2!  For real gonna love it.  Made an awesome CD for 2011 and participated in Pay It Forward 2011.

Happy January

What a slacker I have been.  But know that I am well and thankful.  That is the word that comes to mind for the holidays with family and my BFF from long ago Marlene who came with her family to celebrate out birthdays in 2010.  We have celebrated a few together but this year was  something special.

We had lots of family time talking and catching up.  Her daughters who are away from home in college also made the journey to Ga from St. Louis and Seattle.

Every day and every moment was full of adventures.  We even had a round of the flu that was passed around and it did not dampen the festivities one bit.  We knew we had a limited amount of time and making every moment special is what mattered most.  Our New Years Grand Finale was truly the best ever.  i do not want to know the $$ amount that went  into it but I do know that the memories are priceless.
So thankful Bobby has a real show to do in Orlando so he is there making that happen.  i pray for his health everyday and for him to come home when its over.  Back at school with second semester in full swing.

It's Christmas Card Time!

With the Chirstmas Season quickly approaching and now that I am really loving the whole picture sharing experience. Shutterfly is making sending out holiday cards so easy for me.  I really want to start sending photos of our family to share.  Have you seen their Christmas Cards this year? You need to check them out! I love this one with lots of places for our pictures.

Or this one. I love the old fashioned Christmas colors.

They can even help with gift giving. If you have a coffee drinker in the family like me. {hint hint} They have  photo coffee mugs! Look how cute and it comes with Chocolate!
Another great thing about Shutterfly is that they can help with your card needs year round.
Birthday Invites anyone. My daughter is celebrating her 30th this year.

So my point is run to Shutterfly and check out the Christmas cards selections. It's not to late to get your personalized cards out this year. It is such a sweet way to send cards for the holidays. I won't share the "one" with you( I want you to be surprised when you open your mailbox)  but, I will show you my runner up.
JOY! I love it.
We actually took our family pictures at the Monastery this year.  Our friend Shannon took many pictures of us on a Sunday several weeks ago.  I look forward to sending them out on the design template we have chosen.  I love how easy shutterfly makes this whole process.

Fun Weekend /Time Change Saturday

What fun to have the babies spend the night.  That happened on Friday.  I need to take more pictures.  But these are a couple of Friday night.  Saturday I ran a 10K at Callaway Gardens with some friends.  I rocked it for me.  My time was 1 hour 2 minutes and 23 seconds.  The shirts were the color of dirt not very impressed BUT Ra and B ran the Strong Legs Run in ATL and B gave me his shirt :)
Sunday we took family pictures at the Monestary and I am very excited to see how they turned out.  Brian did major yard work today and I am happy with this fun filled weekend...  Still working on moving and taking of these pounds.

We also like to get up very early together and enjoy that morning being together followed by an early nap.

"Into the Wild" Chris McCandless

Seen the movie and read the book.
One quote really stood out.  i had to go back and find it to remind myself that i had to really think about this.
Unlike Muir and Thoreau, McCandless went in the the wilderness not primarily to ponder nature or the world at large but, rather: to explore the inner country of his own soul.  He soon discovered, however, what Muir and Thoreau already knew: An extended stay in the wilderness inevitable directs one's attention outward as much as inward, and it is impossible to live off the land without developing both a subtle understanding of, and a strong emotional bond with, that land and all it holds.
He graduated from Emory in 1990. He was an extremely intense young man and possessed a streak of stubborn idealism that did not mesh readily with modern existence.  He spent 16 weeks in a bus in Alaska.  I was very moved by this story.
